Joao da Silva was born in 1880 in Lisbon. This Portuguese sculptor is not well known but he specialized in animal sculpture.
Da Silva studied under Chaplain in Paris. He won an honorable mention at the Exposition Universelle in 1900. His sculptures are well modeled and realistic.
This bronze shows a Young Goat standing on a rock with his head down, he is ready to frolic playfully. The Kid is well detailed, he is cast by the Colin Foundry of Paris and has a silvered patina.
